The Athena recruitment process is no doubt difficult. However, if we prepare you better, you can definitely make it! Here are some tips and tricks that worked for me while I was undergoing the process.
Skills assessment
- Areas: English, Math, Science
- They are going to be testing not only your skills here, but your resourcefulness. Being an Athena EA is all about knowing where to look when you don’t know the answer ;)
- Use Google to search for references, examples, and even answers.
- Sites that can be useful to check: Brainly, Wolfram Alpha, Chegg
- You can also ask for someone else’s help — maybe your friend or family member who is good at Math can help you when you are in trouble!
- Use calculators to double-check your Math answers and Grammarly for your answers to language questions.
- Keep track of your time! You must finish the assessment within 48 hours within receiving the e-mail 🙂
- Don’t rush! Triple and quadruple check your answers.
- Be 100% sure that atleast 90% of your answers are correct. Otherwise, you might not pass this segment.
- Mark answers that you are unsure of and consult someone else so that you are sure you are on the right track.
Inbox management playbook
- Make sure that you are taking notes during the module so that you don’t forget important details that might be crucial later. It is not enough to read as you might forget.
- Create a table of client preferences from the sample emails sent.
- Transcribe the voice memo sent by the client. You can use Otter.ai for this.
- Use the table you created to write the e-mail in the client’s voice — as much as possible keep in mind that this is an actual client. An awkwardly written email or one that contains the wrong information can be harmful to your client.
- Research correct email etiquette, especially for cases concerning CC and BCC.
- Always use the correct information when writing the email. It will be detected by the software used by Athena if you use the wrong info and it’ll be flagged as failed.
